The Arms of John Boyle

Seeing as I have not written anything in forever, it would only be fitting that I am sharing an image from an exhibit that is no longer in Chicago, Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690–1840.  This incredible paper cutout was created by an Irishman named Nathaniel Bermingham who lived in England between 1709-1779 and is called The Arms of John Boyle, 5th Earl of Cork and Orrery. Look at this stunning detail, its amazing that it had survived the past 300 years in such excellent shape.

In 2009 it was sold through Christie's for $30,000!
